As much as we all talk about the future and how so many things are merging, there is a simplicity that is crucial.
One of my favorite things to cook is fondue. I’m Swiss. It’s a great social meal.
What I’ve figured out how to do is make people feel comfortable on television and on the radio, which enables me to have access to them, which is key for what I do.
The only reason I wanted to get one [a star on Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame] was because Simon Cowell didn’t have one.
I made Simon Cowell look stupid once. He is terrified of presenting so I gave him the microphone and walked away. He hates interviewing people it means the focus is off him.
Fortunately for me, I’m in this unique business of not singing, not dancing, not performing – just kind of being there.
We now have contestants who will not let anything get in their way of victory. Some contestants have thrown each other under the bus this season.
I find each project, although it’s compartmentalized, informs me in some facet. I wake up everyday wanting to be informed.
I literally get up and get to do the one thing I dreamed about doing every day. And that is being a part of a television show and a radio show that is based in Hollywood.
I am looking forward to being part of the E! team. This unique opportunity allows my company to take the next step in providing multimedia content.

Sometimes I think that the one thing I love most about being an adult is the right to buy candy whenever and wherever I want.
A lot of people when they make movies, the actors act like it’s their journey and that everyone is on the set to facilitate their journey and the whole thing is set up that way – they ask if you want anything.
Acting isn’t that hard, really. I mean, I think that people make a big deal about it, but you just kind of try to say your lines naturally.
All my characters are me. I’m not a good enough actor to become a character. I hear about actors who become the role and I think ‘I wonder what that feels like.’ Because for me, they’re all me.
As a kid I decided that a Canadian accent doesn’t sound tough. I thought guys should sound like Marlon Brando. So now I have a phony accent that I can’t shake, so it’s not phony anymore.
Cars can have a hypnotic effect. You can get in a car and get out and not really remember the trip.
For me, I sort of felt like it was kind of a fairytale… but an interesting one. I don’t know of anybody who has had a romance quite like this, but I certainly know people who have stuck it out.
Hollywood usually doesn’t have strong woman in films like that, and it’s stupid, so for the most part they’re usually being directed and written by men.
I am pretty sick with myself! It seemed a pretty good idea at the time. Around the time I turned 30, I started to feel very creative, more creative than I had been before which is good and I like that.
The theme for me is love and the lack of it. We all want that and we don’t know how to get it, and everything we do is some kind of attempt to capture it for ourselves.

Rebel children, I urge you, fight the turgid slick of conformity with which they seek to smother your glory.
For me happiness occurs arbitrarily: a moment of eye contact on a bus, where all at once you fall in love; or a frozen second in a park where it’s enough that there are trees in the world.
Be led by your talent, not by your self-loathing; those other things you just have to manage.
I want to change the world, and do something valuable and beautiful. I want people to remember me before I’m dead, and then more afterwards.
My life is just a series of embarrassing incidents strung together by telling people about those embarrassing incidents.
Life’s never a postcard of life, is it? It never feels like how you’d want it to look.
The priority of any addict is to anaesthetised the pain of living to ease the passage of day with some purchased relief.
All penguins are the same below the surface, which I think is as perfect an analogy as we’re likely to get for the futility of racism.
I know that’s the sort of thing people say and I really hate it when people say the sort of things people say. I always think, ‘You don’t mean that, you just think it sounds good.
When you fall in love you recognise you’re not the most important person in the world, and your focus becomes another person.

Bernadette Peters is an American actress, singer, and children’s book author who is famous as one of Broadway’s biggest stars. Working successfully on musical theatre, television, films, and music for nearly six decades, she has been described as “an ageless storybook princess.” She is particularly known for working on the musicals by legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, according to whom she is a rare artist who “sings and acts at the same time.” However, it was not originally her idea to be in show business; her mother played a huge part in making Peters an all-American star. Much of her career was built upon the ambitions of her mother, who enrolled her daughters in acting, singing, and dancing classes and took them to auditions when they were very young. Eventually, she won two “Tony Awards,” three “Drama Desk Awards,” one “Golden Globe Award,” and four “Grammy Awards” as part of her Broadway cast. She became the youngest performer to be inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame. She also has six solo albums and performs regularly in her solo concerts.

Stephen Sondheim told me that Oscar Hammerstein believed everything that he wrote. So there’s great truth in the songs, and that’s what was so wonderful to find.
I’ve been fortunate in my career to have performed in revivals of great musicals and to have originated roles in musicals that have in turn been revived. And I’m not dead!
Getting plenty of sleep is always great. It really is. I have a girlfriend who’s sending me a slant board.

Born in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Ali began modeling at age thirteen, and traveled the world before moving to Los Angeles to study acting. Her first professional acting job was a role on the television series Chicago Sons (1997). She received her breakthrough in the high school football drama Varsity Blues (1999) which included her infamous whipped cream bikini scene. Roles in the horror films House on Haunted Hill (1999) and Final Destination (2000) further transitioned her career as an actress.
Acting alongside Colin Farrell, Larter starred in the Western comedy, American Outlaws (2001) which performed poorly at the box office. That year, she also starred as “Brooke Taylor Windham” in the comedy Legally Blonde (2001) with Reese Witherspoon.
Not happy with how things were going, Larter moved to New York in 2002 to reassess her life and career. She reprized her role as “Clear Rivers” in the sequel Final Destination 2 (2003) for which she received star billing. A year later, she made a cameo appearance as herself on the pilot to the HBO comedy drama Entourage (2004) and starred in Three Way (2004) as “Isobel Delano”. She had a role in A Lot Like Love (2005) as “Gina.”

I’ve never been seriously involved with anyone. I’ve certainly never been in love. I’ve always preferred to keep things casual.
It’s not that I find it hard to meet girls – they do come up and chat me up from time to time. Sometimes I’m interested, I tend not to go for the prettier ones. I prefer the quirkier types.
Leave home? It’s quite a scary thought. I’m not the most independent person and that’s the result. When you’re always surrounded by people it becomes quite normal.
So yes, I do want to try and keep things going if I can. I have a few things brewing… And if it doesn’t happen, I did buy an ice cream van a while ago. So I always have that to fall back on.
I went out with people, but never anything too serious. It wasn’t that easy. Now it’s something I’m really looking forward to.
I do, kind of, spend a lot. And just on stupid things. Because I don’t really know what to do. What are you supposed to do? Um. It just seems like way too much. We don’t deserve it, at all, for what we do.

I think players tend to get anxious if they’ve not really done things properly – like eating, resting or training. If you’re fully prepared you’ve got nothing to worry about – it’s just a game of football.
United could soon overtake Arsenal as the chief threat to Chelsea, and defiant Keane vowed: We will keep fighting to the end. We are Manchester United, that is what we do.
They have a few drinks, and maybe the prawn sandwiches, and they don’t realise what’s going on out on the pitch.
These so-called big stars are people we are supposed to be looking up to. Well they are weak and soft. Priorities have changed in football and they are being dictated to by their wives.
No celebrity bullshit, no self promotion, an amazingly gifted player who remained an unaffected human being.
Just because a club says a player is not for sale, it doesn’t necessarily mean that.
I love it when the team scores… the lads are always giving me stick because of it, but I’m just so happy I can’t help it.
I hate losing in training, I’m always arguing, having a go at everybody. I take my job very seriously.
I don’t think some of the people who come to Old Trafford can spell football, never mind understand it.
I don’t believe skill was, or ever will be, the result of coaches. It is a result of a love affair between the child and the ball.
