I’ve never been in that position in my life, where I hate a celebrity so much that I want to call them names.
I’ve been offered things from alot of different labels and stuff like that, but it’s just like, it has to be perfect. I’m not going to sign my life away.
I think touring is one fo the funnest parts of being a singer or entertainer or whatever.
I want to write some books. Books that have nothing to do with music, just some fiction type of books for a whole different audience of people.
I’m friends with [exes] and they hear the songs. I can honestly say I don’t have any exes I hate. They’re artists in some fashion so they understand.
Before I had my daughter I actually wanted to do something that I could put out for free, like a mixtape, but it wasn’t going to really be a mixtape, it was just going to be songs that I wrote and release for free.
I appreciate when people listen to the sad songs, because it’s almost like telling someone your problems and having them listen with a compassionate ear.
When I find something good, I stick to it for like a month. I’m usually late on like other stuff. Kendrick Lamar, I can play that often.
A lot of time when I’m creating songs, they’re in real time. When I’m writing the song, I feel what I’m feeling for its full potential. As soon as the song is over, I’m like, I created art.
I just want to meet as many people as I can and talk with as many people as I can, but whatever allows me to do that then that’s my main goal. It’s just to understand as much as I can about life and how it happens.

I was doing theater in my high school, and I started writing sort of silly songs on the piano backstage in summer theater. I eventually put them online and started getting this little following.
Postmodern comedy doesn’t work well with very old audiences, because it’s making fun of the comedy they enjoy.
I think the comedy clubs tend to homogenize the acts a little bit, because they force them to be palatable in way too many environments.
I have a pretty good math mind, so I can see patterns, but I don’t have a great ear. It’s like a tragedy – I can see so much more natural musical ability in so many other people.
At once I feel that comedy is this amazing sort of transcendent thing, and I’m also open to the fact that maybe it’s just an evolutionary hiccup, something that upright apes do in their free time.
I misdirect the audience, so they have no idea where they are or who they’re listening to.
I’ve always liked the format of YouTube, sharing things for free, which is a nice exchange between people.
For me, if you distill comedy down, it is surprise and the unexpected. That has to be it on its most base level, in any form.
I try and write satire that’s well-intentioned. But those intentions have to be hidden. It can’t be completely clear, and that’s what makes it comedy.
I’ve found nothing but support and generosity from older comics. I think comedians are a lot nicer than the stigma is, at least from my experience.

With no guilt and no shame, no sorrow or blame. Whatever it is, we are all the same.
All of the buildings, all of those cars Were once just a dream In somebodys head.
Those of us who have the eyes and ears of the media have a responsibility to amplify the voices of the voiceless.
Dream big and surround yourself with brilliance, even if you end up dressed up like a flower or a sexually transmitted disease.
I think another thing is that we don’t really want exclusivity. We accept that it is in the artist’s interest to be on sale in every place where they sell music.
The earthly power sucks shadowed milk from sleepy tears undone, from nippled skin as smooth as silk the bugles blown as one.
Having lots of people talking highly of you and respecting your art and your work, this is one of the best feelings that you can have.
With this darkness all around me, I like to be liked. In this emptiness and fear, I want to be wanted. Cause I love to be loved.
The dream is a world in which anyone who has anything bad happen to them has a chance of getting their story uploaded, being seen, being watched.
The rhythm is below me, the rhythm of the heat. The rhythm is around me, the rhythm has control. The rhythm is inside me, the rhythm has my soul.

I mean that it’s all right to go to bed with an asshole but don’t ever have a baby with one.
It is an example of what films can do, how they can slip past your defenses and really break your heart.
It’s about the quality of the worry,” I said. “I have happier worries now than I used to.
It’s a magical thing, the guitar. It allows you to be the whole band in one, to play rhythm and melody, sing over the top. And as an instrument for solos, you can bend notes, draw emotional content out of tiny movements, vibratos and tonal things which even a piano can’t do.
I mean, I have moments of huge frustration because of my inability to express myself linguistically as clearly as I would like to.
I am a lover of all sorts of different music. I love blues and every piece of music that I have listened to has become an influence.
I was never particularly gregarious. I was quite shy, closed in. It’s a classic isn’t it, your psychiatrist will tell you, that’s how I release it, through music.
The expectation on me as a solo artist is very different to the audience’s expectation of a Pink Floyd show.
I just play intuitively and work the same way in the studio. I don’t have any magical effects or anything that helps me to get my particular sound.
She was a stirrer of the pot, a lover of intrigue and distress, a creature who seemed to draw oxygen from the spectacle of people at each other’s throat, everybody in a state of upset and talking about her.

There’s been people who’ve rapped and produced – like Kanye – but I don’t feel like on the rapping side there’s ever been a producer who can rap as good as I think I can rap.
The thing about being an artist today is you get to develop right in front of people’s eyes before you even put out an album.
I want to be like Bruce Springsteen or something, making songs that are relevant.
In hip-hop, there’s not a lot of love. There’s not a lot of love being spread. It’s always like ‘I’m stuntin’ on you raps, or I’m better than you raps.’ It’s not a lot of ‘Yo man, I idolize you raps.
My parents were divorced by the time I was even conscious – like, I don’t remember them ever being together.
Producing all my own songs and refusing to go to the hot producer. That’s the biggest risk I’ve taken so far.
I had a rat-tail when I was younger. I had this nice Bobby Brown fade, with a rat-tail that was long enough to wrap around my face. I used to chew on the end and bite it.
I was a huge Mike Tyson fan growing up; his fights were always on in my house.
I worked in ad sales. I would call up local businesses and try to get them to buy ads in the paper. The whole time, I felt like I was just scamming people.
I think if I did something in the pop world right now, it would be for Rihanna. I’d love to do something production wise for her.
