Maya Rudolph is an American actress, comedian, and singer. She was born on July 27, 1972, in Gainesville, Florida, but grew up in Los Angeles, California. Rudolph is the daughter of singer Minnie Riperton and composer Richard Rudolph. She attended the Crossroads School in Santa Monica and later graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in photography.

Rudolph is best known for her work on the sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live,” where she was a cast member from 2000 to 2007.
